Music Department

Purpose (Why do we exist?)

To attend to all the musical needs of the Church.

Who do we serve?

We serve all the Officers and Members of the Church.

Youth Choir

A group of children and young adults ages 5-18 who gather for rehearsal on Thursdays from 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm in the sanctuary
Supervisors: Mother Lillian Vinston, Sis. Tomeka Vinston, Sis. Breanna Bromell

Worship and Praise

Made up of both young adults and older adults who gather for rehearsal on Monday evenings from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm in the Robert J. Gay building. The musical selections range from traditional to more contemporary gospel.
President: Sister Sharon Moore

Male Chorus

A growing group of men who gather on Wednesday evenings at 5:30 until 7:30 in the Lloyd Taylor Fellowship Hall to sing praises to God.
President: Deacon George Blackwell, Jr.

Ensemble

A group of adults that gather on Monday evenings from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm. This group primarily sings at the 8:00 am service. Their musical selections range from praise & worship to traditional.
Overseer: Sister Maria Davis

Senior Choir

St. Matthew’s oldest choir filled with senior parishioners in their golden season. This group meets for rehearsals faithfully on Saturdays at 10:00 am. They sing traditional songs including hymns and spirituals.

Katherine Pugh Fellowship Choir

A collective group women (young and old) coming together to tell the good news through song!

Vessels of Praise

A small of praise and worship team who assists the Deacon Ministry in doing both devotion and praise and worship at the beginning of the 9:00 am and 10:30 am services.

Unity Choir

The collection of all choirs as well as those not part of a formal choir who enjoy singing.
